Sometimes when we think about some games, we feel that they are quite recent. And yet, when we think about it (if we do) or check the data, we realize that maybe more than 10 years have passed. Another thing is that we feel very old and stuff, but I won’t go into that this time. For now, we’ll stick with the fact that games age faster than we do.
Of course, this means that sometimes we find reports that studios consider a game to have already completed its life cycle and take measures accordingly, most notably closure of the servers reserved for the online mode of the mentioned titlessomething that is a nuisance for those who still use them, and a total loss for those titles that only have an online mode.
Such will not be the case with anyone but 15 games from the Ubisoft catalog that will lose their online mode from next September 1, as announced by the company itself. Also, they will also lose the ability to download DLC of them in some games or use other online features they may have. In some cases, it will even be necessary to configure the console (for those on the listed platform) in offline mode in order to play them. Among them we find no less than five from the Assassin’s Creed franchise. Of course, at least on this occasion they warned.

As you can see, in cases Assassin’s Creed 3 az Far Cry 3 it refers to the original versions, both from 2012. Both have later reissues that are not affected by this service outage.
I always usually ask in these cases what the cost will be to maintain the necessary infrastructure to extend the life of the online game mode. But on the other hand, it should be noted that in most cases these decisions will be made with a low number of players in mind. What do you think? Do you think it’s okay for online game mode to shut down after a reasonable amount of time, or do you think it should be extended over time? And if so, for how long?
