Twitter allows you to follow service feeds

Twitter continues the rhythm that was already evident throughout last year when it comes to adding new features, or at least testing them, in a race in which the social network seems set to overtake Facebook in total features. It is true and indisputable that for years the movements in this regard have been towards zero, but now it seems that it has suddenly moved to the opposite extreme, which worries me personally.

Twitter Circle, Suggested Replies, Profile Activity Indicators, Highlighting Author Likes and Twitter Notes are tests we’ve repeated at MuyComputer in just two months, and it’s not that these were the two most active months of the social network in that sense. Of course, it remains to be seen how many of these tests will eventually become a feature of the service, but whether there are more or less, there’s no doubt that Twitter’s developers must be breaking coffee consumption records.

Some of these features were brought to our attention by the leaks of Jane Manchun Wong, probably the most active and successful leaker in the field of social networks. And why do I mention it? Well, because again in this threadpoints to a new feature that is already being tested: the ability to monitor resources created by third parties, but not by individuals, but by serviceswhich gives things a particularly interesting twist.

And that’s it the possibility to “curate” resources of a thematic nature opens up a huge range of possibilities. For example, a music-related service might create a feed with new artists, or perhaps multiple feeds by music genre. This adds to the project of personalized feeds that Twitter has been working on for some time, and it adds to the feature that we have found on the social network for some time, which means that when we follow a certain profile, we are offered to follow a number of similar profiles.

Twitter is actually much more than what it seems at first glance, i.e. bots, fake news and politics in the soup. There are many really interesting accounts, but unfortunately many times they are buried under the huge amount of noise generated by the dirt that is encountered on this social network. That is, a function that allows you to find interesting thematic resources and without being “contaminated” by hate, can be hugely positive for Twitter and its users.
