Following MSI and Gigabyte, ASUS broke the DDR5 memory overclocking world record with its flagship ROG Maximus Z690 APEX motherboard. The latest overclocking was achieved by Hong Kong overclocking expert LUPIN_NO_MUSUME using an ASUS ROG Maximus Z690 APEX motherboard. The motherboard is designed specifically for DRAM overclocking, as evidenced by the Dual DIMM memory layout. Officially, this motherboard can support speeds up to DDR5-6600, but overclockers are willing to push DDR5 far beyond the stated specs.
Using an Intel Core i9-12900K running at LN2 and 3.7 GHz (4 P-Cores enabled), the overclocker was able to hit 5275.9 MHz, meaning a transfer rate of 10,552 Mbps. This is 2.2 times the speed specified by JEDEC for DDR5 memory, and a negligible 4800Mbps compared to the overclocking achieved. The memory clocks were kept at 127-120-120-120-127-2 (tCAS-tRCD-tRP-tRAS-tRC-tCR) and only one 16GB DIMM was used.
DDR5 record broken!💥

There is no information on which specific DDR5 DIMM is used for this overclocking. In the coming months, manufacturers are expected to take DDR5 even further with platforms such as AMD’s AM5 and Intel’s Raptor Lake that allow for higher memory frequencies and transfer rates. We’ve seen G.Skill demonstrate kits up to DDR5-7000, and others like ADATA, T-Force, Aorus, TeamGroup, and Corsair are also working on faster modules. Source
