According to the Microsoft 365 roadmap, the new Outlook Lite promises to deliver the core features and functionality of Outlook Mobile. The difference is that the new app, which will be released later in July, will take up less space and should run faster, which is good for smartphone users with more modest hardware.
It’s worth remembering that a light version of Outlook already exists in some countries, and an article on the Microsoft support site confirms that it only supports email accounts for personal use, such as @outlook.com, @hotmail.com, @live.com, and @. msn.com – no student or corporate accounts. It’s possible that the Microsoft 365 roadmap refers to an updated version of this light version already available in other countries, but there’s no way to be sure at this time.

Lite versions of other popular Android apps are available these days, such as Facebook Lite, Twitter Lite, Messenger Lite, Instagram Lite, and Spotify Lite. Google also offers lighter versions of some of its Android Go apps.
The Microsoft 365 roadmap doesn’t mention a specific release date for the new Outlook Lite, only saying it’s coming in July. As for the “regular” Outlook Mobile, it has already surpassed 500 million downloads on the Google Play store and is considered by many to be one of the best email clients for Android.

It’s worth recalling that Microsoft is also already testing its new Outlook for Windows app, which was originally codenamed Project Monarch. This new web-based Outlook has a more modern look and is currently only available to Microsoft 365 subscribers with work accounts. To learn more here.
