Microsoft has started testing a new feature in the Edge browser that allows users to edit images before saving them to the system. The essential editing tools were discovered by Reddit user Leopeva64-2 and include cropping and adjusting images, adding captions, and filters. Now the new feature has appeared in Edge Canary, but it is not available to everyone.
Users who have image editing enabled will see a new option in the context menu when they right-click or hover over an image. In the second case, a new icon in the form of three dots appears, which displays a menu with the option to edit the image.
Windows users will likely find similarities to the editor Microsoft implemented in the Photos app. The interface looks similar except for some minor changes. The four main tools (crop, adjust, filters, and caption) are in the top panel, while the bottom panel houses direct image editing options.
Until now, Edge users had two options for editing images: save and open them in a third-party editor, or use the built-in web capture tool that only supports drawing with a marker. But users usually don’t need a full featured editor because they usually just want to crop the picture.
