In 2019, the Army selected General Electric’s T901 engine as part of its Improved Turbine Engine Program (ITEP). A 3,000 horsepower plant will also be delivered by promising attack helicopters. It was noted that flight tests of prototypes with a new engine will begin in the fall. At the end of the tests, samples of the new engine will run for 5,000 hours.
