This was stated in a message from the specialized American publication Space News, with reference to the statement sent by NASA, Ukrinform reported.

“NASA strongly condemns Russia for using the International Space Station for political purposes to support its war against Ukraine, which is fundamentally at odds with the station’s core function among the 15 international participating nations – promoting science and developing technology for peaceful purposes.” The text of the statement reads: US space agency.

NASA made the statement after the Russian Roscosmos agency released several photos showing Russian cosmonauts aboard the ISS flying flags of Kremlin-backed separatist groups in Ukraine. Thus, the cosmonauts celebrated the capture of the Ukrainian Lysychansk by Russian forces.

As reported, the International Space Station is a manned space complex orbiting the Earth at an altitude of about 415 kilometers. Created in 1998, the station was originally supposed to last until 2010, but later this time was extended several times until 2024. The station is designed for scientific and medical research in space.
