It’s been nine months since Windows 11 was publicly released in October. So as we get closer to the general availability (GA) of the next release, 22H2, it’s natural to ask how Windows 11 performance has improved over that time. Puget Systems recently tested the operating system on Windows 10 and found that Windows 11 has improved significantly since last time. And earlier today Phoronix is comparing Windows 11 to Ubuntu and Clear Linux to see how Microsoft’s operating system performs.

However, contrary to what Puget Systems found, Phoronix testing shows that Windows 11 is struggling to maintain its lead over Linux and Ubuntu. In fact, in the overall average performance department, Windows 11 lags behind the Linux distributions tested; this is in stark contrast to what was seen last time Windows 11 was significantly faster in many cases.
