Twitter allows you to “remove” yourself from mentions

Because of how I use Twitter, I usually don’t engage in mentions, multiple mentions, threads, and endless message chains. However, and while I imagine there will be people who like this format of social interaction, I can totally understand that there are others who don’t like opening an app or accessing a website and you will encounter endless conversations and millions of notifications about.

It seems that on Twitter, that Twitter that, as I mentioned a few days ago, has been alternating headlines about new features with headlines about telenovela from Elon Musk’s purchase of the social network realizes how annoying the experience can be. On the other hand, something not too difficult, because everyone who is on the social network for a while You’ll see messages from people asking to be removed from conversations.

And the good news is that it appears immediately as stated in this tweet, Twitter is releasing a new feature that will allow each user to leave a conversation individually. In my case, I just checked and it’s not yet available on iOS or the web interface, but I understand that the rollout will be gradual, and in the case of apps, it’s quite likely that they’ll need to be updated.

As we can see in the tweet, this feature will be included in the menu that appears in the upper right corner of replies in conversations. in the same we can see a new entry called Leave this conversation and if we select it, we will see a message to confirm if we really want to leave the conversation or if we have changed our minds and want to stay in it.

Until now, in the face of boredom and the barrage of notifications these conversations cause, the only option was to disable notifications for one of our messages or mute the conversation, but that’s not always the end of all notifications, and our name is still part of the list of said chat. With this new feature, users will no longer need to ask other participants to remove them from conversations they may be participating in, even if they have not participated. Quite an advance, which I understand will cause a great deal of envy among many members of the schoolboy mums and dads groups.
