Ukraine has been accepted into the multilateral interoperability program (MIP), which implements technological cooperation between the armies of NATO member states.
With reference to the Ministry of Defense of Ukrinform, the relevant decision was made according to the results of the voting held at the annual meeting of the MIP Steering Group.
The message states that from now on, Ukraine, in its role as an associate member of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, acquires the right to jointly develop and amend basic NATO standards on combat control systems and the interaction of related standards.
“Ukraine has strong IT potential and is a valuable NATO ally. We will certainly bring our expertise to the development of collective security,” said Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov.
It was noted that with the support of the C4 Ukraine-NATO Trust Fund and the MIP program, a great contribution has been made to the development of the Ukrainian situational awareness system “Delta”, which has been developed by Ukrainian military informatics experts since 2016. Ministry of Defense Defense Technologies Innovation and Development Center officials presented the potential of Ukraine using Delta’s work at the MIP Steering Group meeting.

Now Ukraine can strengthen cooperation with the Alliance and non-NATO countries. Ukraine has already been informed of the acquisition of membership through official diplomatic channels. Also, the flag of Ukraine will be included in the design template of all MIR documents. Representatives of NATO Headquarters Consultation, Command and Control (C3) Chief of Staff noted in their letter that this event is a good example of Ukraine’s cooperation with NATO and Allied countries, especially within the framework of the NATO-Ukraine C4 Information Sharing Project. , the Ministry of Defense reported.
The Multilateral Interoperability Program (MIP) is a technological cooperation program of the armed forces of NATO member states. It was created at the level of national developers of war management information systems and aims to ensure the interoperability of national systems of the C2IS category.
One of MIP’s products is the MIP4-IES specification, a protocol and data model for exchanging situational information between combat management systems. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ukrainian developers of the situational awareness system “Delta” have been collaborating since 2019.
