Specifically, the agency released images of the South Ring planetary nebula previously unavailable to astronomers on Tuesday. This nebula was created by masses of gas and dust gathering around a dying star. The images were taken in different infrared subspectra and offer the opportunity to see new details inherent in a star’s later stages of life. Additionally, the images show distant galaxies that have not been seen before.

A detailed image of the Stefan Quintet galaxy group has also become available for wide viewing. This is a group of five galaxies in the constellation Pegasus, four of which are 290 million earth-years from Earth and only 40 million earth-years from the fifth galaxy, designated NGC 7320. Studying such “relatively close” galaxies “helps scientists better understand the various structures in the distant universe” and allows for the observation of mergers and interactions between galaxies.

No less impressive is the photo of the Kiel Nebula, which NASA calls the “star nursery,” because you can see the stars born there. Thanks to the new capabilities and observation spectra of the James Webb telescope, scientists were able to peer through cosmic dust. Fixing this object in the early stages of its formation in the universe was difficult, but the sensitivity of the new telescope’s camera made the impossible quite accessible.

The landscape of the bright star-filled “mountains” and “valleys” of the Kiel Nebula is actually the boundary of a young star-forming region called NGC 3324. The largest “peaks” in these images are as high as seven thousand light-years. .

Additionally, NASA has published the most detailed analysis to date of gas giant exoplanet WASP-96b in various radio spectra. Located 1150 light-years from Earth, this planet was discovered in 2014.

It is twice as light as Jupiter, is a hot gas planet, and makes one complete revolution around its star in 3.4 Earth days. In particular, the telescope found “pronounced signatures” of water, clouds, and fog in the atmosphere on WASP-96b, giving scientists a lot of information to work with.
