The European Space Agency (ESA) is finally ending its cooperation with the Russian state company “Roscosmos” on its Mars exploration program.

As reported by Ukrinform, this is written by. excitement Josef Aschbacher, managing director of the agency.

“The ESA Council considered the issues with the ExoMars mission related to the rover and landing platform, recognizing that the conditions that led to the end of cooperation with Roscosmos – the war in Ukraine and the sanctions it entails – continue,” he noted.

As a result, Aschbacher explained, the Council had instructed him to formally end cooperation with Roscosmos, which had previously been suspended regarding the ExoMars mission.

According to him, information on steps to be taken with other partners will be made public at a media briefing on 20 July.

As reported, on February 24, the Russian Federation began a new phase of the war against Ukraine – a full-scale invasion. Russian invaders are bombing peaceful cities and villages of Ukraine and killing the civilian population.

After the start of the war, large-scale sanctions against Russia were introduced by the world community.
