How to start streaming on Instagram on a computer

You can use OBS or Streamlabs software for live broadcast. Instagram will publish a URL and a stream key, you have to click a button to start the stream “Create a post” and select stream there.

Post management options are pretty extensive – the author can limit the post audience and view comments while posting.

At the same time, there are certain restrictions for video:

• 720×1280 pixels resolution at 30 frames per second (60 fps support will appear later),
• bit rate 2250-6000 Kbit/s,
• preferred aspect ratio is 9×16.

Instagram notes that if you end your broadcast in the broadcast software before the Live Producer has finished broadcasting, the video will continue with the last frame from the broadcast software viewed. The company recommends that users complete their broadcast in Live Producer before completing their broadcast in their streaming software to ensure their stream ends smoothly.

Contributors can also view, share and upload the completed stream to the Live Archive. You can access the live archive in the Instagram mobile application from your profile.

When the function is fully operational

Instagram did not specify when Live Producer will be available to all users. The functionality is currently being tested on a limited number of people, but viewership may increase in the near future.
