The State Special Communications and Information Protection Service reminded how to properly delete files and information from the phone so that the Russian invaders could not restore it.
According to Ukrinform, this was reported by the State Special Communications Service.
One option in particular is to manually delete individual files. To do this, you need to select the desired file, click the “Delete” button. And after that, clear the trash through the file manager, because deleted files can be stored in it for up to 30 days.
“However, even data deleted this way can be recovered,” the service said.
Therefore, experts recommend additionally using the so-called shredders, which are programs that make it possible to permanently destroy files that can be found in the application store of your phone.
Another option to wipe data from a smartphone is to factory reset the system. This method can be used as a last resort when others are impossible for any reason. After all, in this case, absolutely all data and files will be deleted from the phone, without the possibility of recovery.
“But remember that a completely blank phone can arouse suspicion among occupants,” the State Intelligence Service said.
To restore the system to factory settings on Android, you need to go to “Settings”, select “General management” and click “Reset”. Then click “Factory reset” (menu names may differ slightly depending on phone model).
In iOS, choose Settings – General – Transfer or Reset iPhone. After that – “Erase” all content and settings.
As reported by Ukrinform, the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine made recommendations on how to use the phone in enemy-occupied areas.
