South Korean company Samsung has presented a graphics RAM (DRAM) chip with higher speed and improved energy efficiency.
As reported by Ukrinform, Yonhap reported it.
The company noted that the 24-gigabit Graphics Double Data Rate 6 (GDDR6) chip uses third-generation 10-nanometer technology and has a 30% faster data processing speed than existing products on the market.
The new DRAM chip can handle graphics up to 1.1 terabytes per second, which is the fastest in the world, equivalent to processing 275 Full HD movies per second.
Samsung added that by using the so-called dynamic voltage scaling technology, GDDR6 improves energy efficiency by more than 20%.
It is noted that graphics DRAMs are widely used in high-power 3D games, personal computers, laptops, or devices that play high-definition video.
Dynamic random access memory (DRAM) is a type of random access computer memory mostly used as RAM in modern computers. The main advantage of this type of memory is that its cells are very tightly packed, that is, many bits can be packed in a small chip, which means that on their basis a large-capacity memory can be created.
As reported by Ukrinform, Taiwanese MediaTek company has presented a new, more powerful flagship processor, Dimensity 9000+.
