The presence of the famous Tinder apps Android phones are at risk due to a dispute with Google over the channel it uses to manage payments within the same app.
Match Group, which owns Tinder, has sued Google for “unfair practices” that violates US antitrust laws.
Specifically, revenue quotas were changed a few months ago, creating a percentage of up to 30% for companies raising more than one million euros.
In addition, the technology giant requires Tinder to make all payments, which Match Group classifies as monopolist, to be made through the Play Store.
Google believes they don’t want to do their part and pay their corresponding commissions, so it has filed a counterclaim against Match Group.
Both companies await a trial in the coming months to hear a judge’s sentence.
Meanwhile, Google suggested Match Group to distribute the Tinder app outside of Google Play, which would leave Android users around the world without access to this famous platform.
Match Group, on the other hand, refuses to pay Google until a judge decides the case.
