The US military has developed an advanced ground-based weapon called the Precision Strike Missile, a promising technology capable of tracking and destroying enemy targets up to 500 km away.
Developed over many years, PrSM has proven its effectiveness in tests and demonstrations so much that the service is already expanding its capabilities to reach a wider range and target sets.
“We’ve really made a breakthrough in PrSM, and that’s thanks to the extended range engine. We are confident that with a direct flow air jet engine the rocket will fly hundreds of kilometers further, and we are working on it. We are confident in the core capabilities and are already investing in further refinements to propel the PrSM missile further and attack ships and other moving targets.said Major General John Rafferty, director of the Long Range Precision Fires Cross.
The so-called “basic version”, which uses the existing launcher and fire control system, will be greatly expanded with a new variant designed to replace the already incoming 500 kilometer variant.
Rafferty explained that the Army is making even more progress in the field of precision strike weapons, developing guidance technology to increase range, targeting the gun’s accuracy and multi-role capability.
“We don’t stop there. We are so confident in this missile that we started focusing on the guided warhead. The chipboard in front of this missile will give it a higher ability against naval targets.‘ said Rafferty.
While many technical details about the new self-propelled gun are withheld for security reasons, the Army is taking clear and ambitious steps to further develop the precision strike weapon.
