When a Windows computer first connects to a local wireless network the Wi-Fi password is stored on the computer. This makes it easier so that we don’t have to type it every time we connect to the same network. Simply, the system remembers this and automatically connects when in range, if the user chooses to do so.
But what happens if we forget it and want to give it to a guest, a family member or use it ourselves on another device? There are so many passwords to remember that it’s not uncommon.

We’ve already offered you several tutorials on how to do this through Windows’ general settings, Control Panel, or third-party apps like WirelessKeyView, free, portable, and working on all Microsoft systems.
Today we propose a different method. Easier than others because it’s done with a single command and without prior knowledge of the Windows console. As follows:
Open the advanced Windows console, Powershell (or use the Windows Terminal application). For example, from Windows search:
write the command netsh wlan show profile name=”NETWORK” key=clear by replacing the NETWORK SSID of your Wi-Fi. Or what is the same thing, the name of the wireless network for which you need to see the access password.
As you will see in the previous screenshot, under “Security Settings > Password Content”. you will be able to see the password for that particular Wi-Fi network, which is called “Orion” for example. Additional information such as the type of security settings, connection and network profile will also be displayed.
It’s another example of the capabilities of the Windows console that we invite you to discover and use. If you want to go further, you can read these articles:
