Xiaomi has not only failed to become one of the best-selling mobile brands in our country and in the world. The company can also boast of having broken seven Guinness records, all in the last four years.
Today we’ll see what these records are in chronological order, as they’re not all about tech, there are some totally crazy ones and occasional donations to company history.
1. The world’s largest mosaic of lights (creates a logo)
On September 11, 2018, Xiaomi managed to create a mosaic of more than 50 m² in India with nothing more and nothing less than the 9,690 white and orange LED lights that make up the company’s logo. Those who looked at the balconies of nearby buildings that day would be in for a big, bright surprise.
2. The world’s largest mobile animated mosaic
We continue with the mosaics. A few months later, in Beijing, China, Xiaomi took advantage of the Christmas holidays to create a massive 7,589-metre-tall Christmas tree, which consists of a mosaic of 1,005 Xiaomi Mi Play models that produce a fun picture with a few Mi Bunny. Happy Holidays!
3-4. Notebook mosaic and the world’s largest single donation of school supplies
This is the last promised mosaic. In 2019 and on the occasion of Children’s Day celebrations, Xiaomi collected 18,000 kg in notebooks and placed them side by side to create this beautiful mosaic. He then donated the entire amount to the Robin Hood Army, a non-profit for underprivileged children in Mumbai, India. On the same day, they set a second Guinness record by donating this amount.
5. More people open the box at the same time
In December 2021, 703 people gathered at the World Trade Center in New York City to unpack a large box of mysterious boxes containing various items: chargers, external batteries, Mi Box TVs, and other accessories. If we knew, we would cooperate without hesitation!
6. The world’s largest gas lamp
We’re returning to India with a pretty low-tech record. Xiaomi made a gas lamp with a capacity of 2,247 liters. It was so big that they even gave it a name: ‘Ray of Hope’.
7. The world’s longest row of notebooks
Less than a year ago, in September 2021, more than 10,000 laptops were placed in a row, covering a distance of 1,501 meters. It happened in India and the notebooks were donated to associations working with schools in the region.
Will Xiaomi get more?
Xiaomi has had great success as a tech brand, but few can claim to hold seven Guinness records. Let’s hope this doesn’t end there and the company goes up to 10, 15 or even 20. With the huge community of Spanish speakers we’re in, we can help them a little bit.
