On July 25, LG company officially presented to the world the new UltraWide 49WQ95C-W ultra-wide format monitor, from the name of which it is not difficult to guess about the diagonal – it reaches a significant 49 inches. This was reported by the TechPowerUp information post, citing their source. However, the large “on paper” diagonal is easily explained by the significant aspect ratio of 32:9 – in fact, these are two monitors in the usual 16:9 format, “glued” into one. Hence the seemingly significant resolution of 5210×1440 pixels, which is actually 2K resolution stretching along the horizontal axis.
However, besides the large resolution and diagonal, the monitor has other interesting bonuses. For example, the LG UltraWide 49WQ95C-W has a screen refresh rate of 144 Hz, which is really big news for widescreen monitors with such an aspect ratio. Accordingly, it will now be possible not only to deal with work tasks with a greater margin of comfort, but also to play modern video games that support 32:9. The manufacturer also announced that it covers 98 percent of the DCI-P3 color space, a contrast ratio of 1000:1 and a brightness of 400 km/m2 – these are pretty good specs for an IPS matrix.
Also, the manufacturer decided not to dwell on the features of the monitor, equipping such an important device with a large number of ports. If you look at the monitor from below, you can immediately see two HDMI 2.0 ports, a DisplayPort 1.4 output and a USB Type-C connector that supports power transfer at 90 W. A pretty welcome bonus for modern laptop owners. There is also a USB hub that the user can connect to the computer with a special cable. In this case, the two USB ports on the right can be used for data transfer and more.
The monitor is also equipped with a 3.5mm headphone jack and two internal speakers with a total power of 10W so you can connect wired devices directly. It turned out to be a truly universal device for almost all usage scenarios (from working with spreadsheets to running video games), but unfortunately the manufacturer has yet to reveal the official price of the new product. There is an insider from the DisplaySpecifications portal who claims to charge $1,700 for this model alone.
