The latest data from cable.co.uk shows the cost of mobile communications in different countries of the world. To be more precise, the average cost of 1GB of mobile data.

The difference between the most affordable and the most expensive connection is huge. The cheapest 1GB of data is in Israel and costs just $0.04. Moreover, there is a big difference even with Italy, which is in second place at $0.12 per 1GB. At the same time, the most expensive connection is on the island of Saint Helena, where you have to pay $ 41.06 for 1 GB! It’s also very expensive ($38.45) in the Falkland Islands.

Communication in the Ukrainian market is $ 0.43. The country ranks 24th on the list. As a reminder, this is an average price.

The source says that in general, countries can be divided into four classes.

• Excellent infrastructure. Countries with long-standing widespread 4G infrastructure or new 5G infrastructure are often at the cheaper end of the table. This is despite the plans often offering significantly more data than average and caps often hundreds of gigabytes or none at all. So the cost of a gigabyte in these countries would be very low.
• Strong addiction. Countries with almost no fixed broadband are therefore heavily dependent on mobile data provisioning. With a saturated market and many competing providers often accompanied by low average fees, data prices in such countries can be very low compared to global prices.
• Low consumption. Countries where mobile data is widely available and widely used, but infrastructure requires a limited culture of use. In such countries, SIM cards are usually relatively inexpensive, but often available with very little data.
• Rich economy. Rich countries tend to have good mobile infrastructure and decent data allowances. Data prices tend to be on the global average, as the government can afford to pay more and the cost of owning and operating network infrastructure is much higher.
