Sony has been working on this for a long time PlayStation VR2its next virtual reality set, which includes a helmet and controls, and which will replace the original version of the same device that was released in 2016 to work with the PlayStation 4.

Apparently, the Japanese company would be ready to share not only the hardware details but also the software. The new options that the virtual reality headset for PlayStation 5 will offer include live streaming support, a feature that can work together with the HD camera available for the console. It’s clear that Sony’s intention is to build on the draw of the Twitch platform and video game live streaming in general.

PlayStation VR2 will offer a a movie mode that will display the PlayStation 5 interface and make conventional games available with a refresh rate that can range between 24 and 120 Hzwhile native VR content will be displayed at a resolution of 4000 x 2040 pixels and at a refresh rate of 90 or 120 hertz. The introduction of a PlayStation 5 system interface adapted for a virtual reality helmet will come in handy to offer the convenience of users not having to take it off to change the content they are currently seeing.

Other features expected from the PlayStation VR2 are transparent mode that allows you to see the room to avoid collisions or finding controllers, and the ability to define a personalized gaming area that will alert you if you are too close to a sofa, TV or other obstacle. Obviously, none of this is really new to the industry, but it can help avoid accidents, especially for people who live in small apartments or whose rooms intended for video games are not spacious.

As a product that hasn’t been officially unveiled, there are still a lot of unknowns surrounding the PlayStation VR2, including what the native virtual reality interface will be like. Sony announced that developers will soon have access to the experience that the device offers, so in the near future we should have more details about it and the titles oriented or with a mode that will allow us to use it.
