China’s long-range radar detection and control aircraft KJ-600, called “letter radar”, is being tested. The Drive broadcast evaluated the capabilities of the KJ-600, which will expand the range of the radar station of the Chinese aircraft carrier Fujian.

New pictures of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Navy (Navy) aircraft have been posted online. Published photos show the nose of the new aircraft. Also, a video was posted online showing the KJ-600 flying over the city of Xi’an as part of the flight tests. This “marks the emergence of a new carrier wing that is expected to be a key component of the KJ-600.”

At least four KJ-600 prototypes are believed to exist. The Chinese aircraft received spread vertical wings, which provided the aircraft carrier with its stability during takeoff and landing. The KJ-600 radar antenna is located on the fuselage.

It is noted that the aircraft can expand the radar range of the aircraft carrier “Fujian”. In addition, the KJ-600 will coordinate the movements of aircraft on the wing of the aircraft carrier and transmit target data to them.
