The electronic document Diia.pl, applied in Poland for Ukrainians and confirming their legal stay in the country, received the official status of the first digital residence permit.
As reported by Ukrinform, Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov announced this on Telegram.
“More than a million Ukrainians moved to Poland because of the war. We are grateful to our Polish friends for the support that our citizens have received and continue to receive from you. You have done everything to make our families’ stay comfortable. Even digitally,” he stressed.
Fedorov recalled that Poland has created a separate digital document in the mObywatel application – Diia.pl for Ukrainians accustomed to using “Dia”. It is obtained on the basis of PESEL (Polish identification number). Ukrainian refugees can confirm their identity with this document.
According to Fedorov, more than 80,000 Ukrainians used Diia.pl in five months.
The Minister noted that once the first digital passport is given its official status, this document can be used not only for identity verification, but also for border crossings, utilizing public services and in all life situations deemed necessary.
“We would like to thank our Polish friends once again,” said the Deputy Prime Minister.
As reported by Ukrinform, a stationery office is planned to open in Poland in August, where Ukrainians who have left the country due to the war can issue both foreign and Ukrainian passports.
