Huawei has officially introduced the company’s next-generation operating system, HarmonyOS 3. In a special presentation held in China, the technology giant talked about the distribution of HarmonyOS 2, which is growing rapidly and the number of installations has already exceeded 300 million devices. , and immediately opened registration for beta testing of the new version for anyone who wants it. As for innovations, they cannot be called global, but they are largely aimed at increasing the speed and smoothness of work. At the same time, there are several useful functions.

First of all, Huawei emphasizes that HarmonyOS 3 can now be installed on 12 different types of smart products. The platform supports smartphones, tablets, laptops, smart watches, smart speakers, TVs and other devices from the Internet of Things. New form factors include printers, smart glasses, cars and home appliances. Also, HarmonyOS 3 promises smooth and seamless sharing (for example, peripherals will learn to automatically switch between resources) and tablets can be converted into additional smart displays when connected to a computer. The central categories of the ecosystem are called PCs, TVs, and smartwatches.

The main priority of HarmonyOS 3 is large-scale optimization at the architectural level. Power consumption from graphics processing decreased by 11%, while application responsiveness increased by 14%. As an example, given the Huawei P50 Pro – running HarmonyOS 3, getting a 7% increase in the speed of launching applications, scrolling also becomes 18% smoother.

Major changes in HarmonyOS 3:

• compatibility with refrigerators, stoves, steamers, massage chairs and other types of household appliances;
• personalized desktop interface based on combinations of widgets, cards and smart folders;
• folders of 3×1 and 1×3 sizes that allow you to open and save more applications at the same time;

• Enhanced Super Device functionality for interaction of several devices and convenient management of a single ecosystem;
• Super Desktop function to quickly display the active smartphone screen in the car with synchronization and access to any program;
• create your own unique 3D avatars;
• support for using two pairs of wireless headphones;
• a security center with a built-in antivirus responsible for the detection and removal of malicious content;
• real-time automatic captions based on artificial intelligence;
• connecting hearing aids

Huawei CEO Richard Yu has confirmed that the stable release of HarmonyOS 3 will take place in September 2022. At the time of the presentation, availability was only announced for Chinese device models, meaning users in China will be able to update in the fall.
