It’s been three years since Gmail’s last redesign. Today, Google announced a new web design for one of its most important applications. A cleaner interface with bluish tones and repositioning of the menus to make it easier to access some of its tools.

These news from new Gmail. Google mail is updated with the aesthetics of Material Design 3 and combines Chat, Spaces, and Google Meet for video calls under the same taskbar.

A cleaner and easier Gmail to communicate with people

The reason for this merging of Gmail with chats and video calls is because Google has found that many users are constantly switching from one to the other. To do this, the new Gmail vertical menu on the left with chats, spaces, and Meet shortcuts. By clicking on them we can use direct chat or create a new meeting for video call without having to leave the interface.

The new Gmail is now available to users who have active chats or have Google Workspace. It will soon reach all users in the coming weeks.

From the Gmail settings we can: decide which apps we want to see In Gmail, being able to choose to hide Meet or chats directly in case we don’t want to use them.

If you want to revert to the previous design of Gmail, Google will let you do so from the settings menu. As usual, at least until users get used to it.

Added new filters to search for emails.

In addition to the interface change, Google explains: improved search results to better accommodate different filters.

This new design is the first step in what Gmail will offer this 2022. At the end of the year, Gmail will be renewed again. improve the tablet experienceby adding better emojis and incorporating new accessibility options.
