ASUS presented zenfone 9a new generation of the brand’s smartphone that aims to be compact, powerful, capable of taking better photos and that retains features such as the use of OLED screens that operate at frequencies above the typical 60 Hz that are still so common today.
The Zenfone 9 is a smartphone that has been completely redesigned compared to previous generations to adopt a compact form factor with a screen 5.9 inches and elegant appearance to look at. In addition, it offers high performance thanks to the use of Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processors.
Since we mentioned the screen size, we’ll dive into it to say that its panel is type AMOLED from Samsung and supports native resolution 1080 x 2400 pixels at 20:9 aspect ratio, refresh rate 120 Hz, 112% of the DCI-P3 color spectrum, 151% of the sRGB color space and HDR10+. When it comes to the internals of the Zenfone 9, we find different configurations, but they are all supported SoC Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 clocked at the processor level of 3.2 GHz and complemented by Adreno 730 graphics. As for memory, there are configurations of smartphones with 8GB LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB storage internal according to the UFS 3.1 specification, 8GB RAM with 256GB storage and 16GB RAM with 256GB storage.
Cameras are another front that highlights the Zenfone 9 on the back there is one with two sensors, one IMX766 from Sony that works at 50 megapixels and another IMX363 also from Sony that works at 12 megapixels. In terms of connectivity, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, USB Type-C, 3.5 jack connector for “lifetime” headphones were incorporated. Zenfone 9 has space for two NANO SIM and/or NANO SIM 2 cards along with DSDV 5G+5G compatibility. Battery, 4,300 mAh, supports fast charging with a 30W HyperCharge adapter. The dimensions are 146.5 x 68.1 x 9.1 millimeters and the weight is around 169 grams, while the operating system is Android 12 with ASUS ZenUI 9 customization layer.
Zenfone 9 is the first smartphone capable of using the Connex modular case system created by ASUS itself. It’s basically a case called a Connex that can be attached to accessories on a perforated panel on the bottom. Its features include a smart support that consists of a kickstand that launches a selected app or game when unfolded. It also has a card holder.
The price of the configuration with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage is 829 euros, although there will be a promotion during the first month that reduces it to 759 euros. The variant with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage costs 879 euros, while the variant with 16GB and 256GB of internal storage costs 929 euros. The pre-order and discount period will be open from July 28 to August 21, and units are expected to become available from the week of August 15.
