Indeed, 1440p support is finally coming to PlayStation 5, although it is currently in beta, as a test. However, the update is not expected to jump to the stable channel and reach all users of Sony’s new console.
1440p support on the PlayStation 5 was one of the shortcomings with which the console was presented shortly before the launch, and as you can see, Sony took its time with the implementation of the resolution, it must also be said that something special, aimed mainly at those who use a monitor instead of a television.
It should be noted that the PS5 came with an offer native support for 1080p and 4Kthe two most common screen resolutions today, not to mention the standard ones on TVs, although the quality with which games run in 4K is relative, depending on what technical factors are taken into account.
Be that as it may, 1440p is positioned as an in-between option as well as one of the most popular among PC users or among those from consoles who use PC monitor for gaming, of which there are more and more. This is the reason for the absence of the mentioned option, which is also one of the most requested, because even before the PS5 hit the streets, it was missing.

Of course, in order to fully enjoy 1440p support on the PlayStation 5, a few obvious requirements must be met, such as a game that supports this resolution. As with all types of screens and content, if their resolution is higher than the resolution supported by the panel, there are also benefitssuch as greater reproduction sharpness.
The only thing that can be taken away from this news, according to VG247, is that according to information provided by Sony, it is not clear that the variable refresh rate feature that the console released a few months ago includes 1440p in addition to the default 1080p and 2160p.
It’s a welcome improvement anyway, and judging by the pace at which Sony has been adding new features to its machine, such as the low-latency mode and performance improvements that the update brought earlier this month, things are likely to continue to improve. You just have to wait for it to do it (what a time when a console was what you bought in the store and nothing more).
In fact, the article on the PlayStation blog revealing this news talks about other experimental news that will be available to all PS5 users sooner or later: game lists, customization options, more social features…
