Between May and June, between 50,000 and 57,000 IT professionals left Ukraine from abroad.

This has been proven by the IT Research Flexibility study conducted in the Lviv IT cluster.

According to IT Research Resilience, between 50,000 and 57,000 IT professionals went abroad from May to June. And about 7,000 people from Aitiv joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine or the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Currently, the approximate number of IT specialists in Ukraine reaches 228,000 people.

According to the survey, 57% of respondents want to live in Ukraine. Experienced employees with a partner or family are more determined to go abroad. The most common factors triggering migration are the loss of housing or jobs.

During the survey, three conditional scenarios of the development of events in Ukraine were simulated, and IT specialists were asked to imagine themselves in each of them a year later. If the positive scenario involving European integration and liberalization of the economy is implemented, 78% of respondents will stay in Ukraine and 12% will try to leave.

The median salary in the IT industry in Ukraine after February 24 is $2,360. The average age of an IT professional is 31 years old. 71% of the employees in this sector are men and 29% are women.

The IT industry has generated $3.2 billion in revenue in the last 5 months. According to the study, another 1 billion UAH was transferred to the Ukrainian economy to the army.

As reported by Ukrinform, the Ministry of Digital Transformation expects to increase the IT sector’s share of Ukraine’s GDP to 10%. This was announced by the Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov during the International Diia Brave Ukraine Summit held in Davos in May this year.
