The author has put together a visualization that includes a variety of influential people from the following fields: culture, science, politics and sports. You can view the interactive map from the link.

He explained exactly how he determined the “importance” of each person he placed first in different cities. In general, each name on the map was determined using basic information from Wikipedia and Wikidata. Popularity was calculated based on a number of indicators:

• The number of Wikipedia versions of each name.
• The length of the article about the person, i.e. the total number of words found in all available biographies. For people who have only one entry on Wikidata and no biography on Wikipedia, the indicator is zero.
• Average views of each person’s bio between 2015 and 2018 across all available language publications (zero if no Wikipedia bio).
• The fullness of information blocks – that is, the date of birth, facts from the biography, various data on the life and activities of a person are available.
• Total number of external links given to resources.

Unfortunately, the map has a number of disadvantages. First of all, it uses the spelling of names from their Russian counterparts. Also, for some cities of Ukraine, Russians born there are indicated. For example, the writer Bulgakov was named for Kyiv, the Russian poet Nekrasov Nemirov for the Vinnytsia region and Brezhnev, Trotsky, Akhmatov and other cities.
