This Wednesday (03) Samsung presented to the public the news in their sector of memory and storage, during Flash Memory Summit 2022specialized industry conference held in Santa Clara, California, with August 2-4. Among the topics covered by the South Korean giant is a new mobile storage system from SamsungO UFS 4.0 – Universal flash storagepresented in May by the company, and which will have its own large-scale production started from this month.

The company has rated this component as critical for future 5G smartphones that will need to process large amounts of data, such as high-resolution images or graphics-intensive games, as well as automotive systems. Expected that UFS 4.0 may appear in the next generation of first-class Samsungyou Galaxy S23which should be released at the beginning 2023. However, the brand did not mention anything about the presence of the component on their devices.

UFS 4.0

According to the specifications provided by the company itself, UFS 4.0 can offer speed up to 23.2 Gbps per layertwice the norm UFS 3.1in addition to sequential reading up to 4200 MB/s and sequential recording up to 2800 MB/s.

OUR Samsung also states that the model will also have better power efficiency with sequential read speeds 6.0 MB/s per mA, representing a 46% improvement over the previous generation. In doing so, the company promises more efficient use of the battery by end users.

All these characteristics will be presented in a compact package with dimensions of 11mm x 13mm x 1mm and storage capacity up to 1 TB from memory.
