Ukrainian telecom companies received about 1.3 thousand pieces of equipment from European partners to restore communications worth half a million dollars, within the framework of the Keep Ukraine Connected volunteer project.
As reported by Ukrinform, the Ministry of Digital Transformation announced it on Telegram.
The message states, “The Keep Ukraine Connected project of the Global NOG Alliance helps Ukrainian telecom companies acquire equipment from their European counterparts to restore communications in Ukraine. Since April, operators and providers have received approximately 1.3 thousand pieces of equipment worth $500,000. “
According to the Ministry of Statistics, at the beginning of July, five deliveries of equipment were made, the total number of which was about two thousand, of which about 1.3 thousand were distributed among telecom companies.
In total, six national and 42 regional companies most affected by the war received aid.
The Ministry of Digital Affairs expressed its gratitude to partners who helped restore communication in Ukraine.
It is stated that the project started thanks to volunteers – electronic communications engineers Rene Fichtmüller from Germany, Jan George from Slovenia, Sander Stefan from the Netherlands and others.
The program is implemented with the support of the Ministry of Digitization, company DEPS, Association of Rights Holders and Content Providers and the Internet Association of Ukraine.
As reported by Ukrinform, the World Bank estimated the losses of the Ukrainian telecommunications market at $2.6 billion.
