The popular messenger does not officially have a version for smartwatches, so developer Adam Foote set about fixing the situation with his own hands. He created an adapted WhatsApp client for the Apple Watch, which can already be downloaded from the official store without jailbreak, long settings and other dances with a tambourine.
The program gains access to the watch owner’s account using the WhatsApp web API. After installation, you need to scan the QR code with your smartphone to register a new device. A list of chats will appear on the Apple Watch screen, when a conversation is selected, you can view the conversation history or send a new message.
There are also options for customizing the interface – showing or hiding contact profile images, choosing the color of pop-up messages and other customization functions. WristChat supports haptic feedback and integrates with the WristBoard on-screen keyboard, which features autocorrect and quick typing suggestions. Other input methods are available, such as dictation and Scribble.
The developer notes that the application does not support the function of creating new dialogs – messages can only be sent to already started chats. The App Store program costs $2.99. The purchase of the WristBoard on-screen keyboard will cost the same amount.
