Microsoft has released an updated version of Edge 104, which has been on the beta channel since last month. Version 104.0.1293.44 includes general bug fixes and performance improvements, as well as providing enhanced security for all users by default.
What’s new in Microsoft Edge 104.0.1293.44 Beta?
- Increase your online security. Internet security improvements at edge://settings/privacy now include Basic as the new default option. With this setting, Microsoft Edge will apply additional protection to less visited sites. This preserves the user experience for the most popular sites.
Enhanced Security in Microsoft Edge is a feature that makes the browser more secure by turning off the just-in-time (JIT) compiler. According to Microsoft, disabling JIT reduces the number of attack surfaces and actually makes it harder for malicious sites to promote malware. Advanced Security (formerly Super Double Safe Mode) implements additional security measures such as Hardware Enforced Stack Protection, Arbitrary Code Protection (ACG), and Control Flow Protection (CFG) in addition to disabling JIT.
