The Ministry of Digital Affairs wants to provide Internet access to all shelters in Ukraine: a photo of the initiative’s presentation

Deputy Prime Minister and Head of the Ministry of Digital Affairs, Mykhailo Fedorov, as well as Dmytro Zavhorodniy, Director of the MES Digital Transformation Directorate, spoke about the challenges faced by the telecom front. They held a press conference in the bunker of one of the schools to show how everything works. Channel 24.

The aim is for children to be able to learn safely from 1 September.

The aim of the Ministry of Education and Science and the Ministry of Digital Affairs is to do everything to ensure that the highest quality and safe education process begins on 1 September. That is why all schools, kindergartens, colleges and universities in the country must have high-speed Internet in their shelters.

Fedorov emphasized that in the next month or two, this initiative will cover 100% of the schools that will be ready bomb shelters.

We have now received 3,500 routers from our partners and will be getting more groups in the near future. So we have all the resources to connect all the schools with bomb shelters.

Technologically, the venture is supported by companies from various fields of telecommunications and online stores. All the equipment we bought so far has come for free.

Schools will buy computer hardware

MES explained that it is especially important to provide computer equipment to schools and teachers.

More than 62,000 laptops were purchased last year and distributed among schools. We plan to get at least this many computers for free this year. We already have an agreement with Google,

Application from an educational institution can be left on the website

In particular, the Deputy Prime Minister announced, a website is being launched where it will be possible to leave applications from a particular educational institution. It will also be possible to communicate via the internet through local education departments. The work will be coordinated by the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Ministry of Digital.

Wartime Training: Short

  • The Ministry of Education has assumed that schools will be able to train in several shifts from 1 September. However, this will not apply to all educational institutions.
  • Education Minister Serhiy Shkarlet stressed that all decisions are now made according to whether the school can guarantee the safety of students.
  • Full-time education will continue only in educational institutions that have a reliable and equipped shelter.
  • An audit is currently underway in Ukraine.
