Fortune released this Thursday (04) its annual list of the 500 companies with the highest tax receipts in 2021. In the so-called Fortune 500, Walmart confidently held the 1st place. Amazon overtook Apple and took 2nd place, and the apple company was in 7th place.

OUR walmart is a big giant that can be surpassed, he conveniently appeared on the list with a revenue of 572 billion US dollars and took first place. The company has been on the list for 28 years and is first place 9 years in a row. Amazon moved up one spot from last year to second with $469.8 billion in revenue. Apple moved from 6th to 7th place with $365.8 billion in revenue. Below you can see the Top 10 of the Fortune 500 which includes other companies such as China National Petroleum, Saudi Aramco, Sinopec Group, Volkswagen and CVS Health.

Despite losing in terms of revenue, Apple won in terms of profit: $94.6 billion compared to $33.3 billion for Amazon. In the overall ranking of the highest profits for 2021, the first place is taken by the oil company Saudi Aramco from Saudi Arabia with a significant profit of 105 billion US dollars.

At the highest position in terms of revenue, other interesting names appear further down the list, such as Alphabet (represented by Google) at 17th, Samsung at 18th, Microsoft at 33rd, Mercedez-Benz at 38th and Mistsubishi in 41st position.

Strong presence of Chinese companies

An interesting fact revealed by the Fortune 500 is that China is the country with the most companies on the list. Total 145 companies, which corresponds to 29% of the list. This is an impressive figure, since many companies are directly connected to the government. The United States comes in second with 124 companies in the top 500. China and the US make up more than half of the list with 269 companies, equivalent to 53.8%.

On the other hand, in Brazil, only 7 companies are in the TOP-500. Petrobras was ranked 128th with US$84 billion in revenue.. The Brazilian oil company has climbed an impressive 53 spots since the last list published by Fortune.
