Next Wednesday August 10th the South Korean giant will hold a new Samsung Unpacked event where it will present its new Galaxy devices.

It will be the second event of its kind in 2022 and can be watched on Samsung.com or on the manufacturer’s YouTube channel. In Spain it will start at 15:00. in case you want to follow it. And if you can’t or don’t want to, don’t worry because we’ll be covering it live and we’ll keep you posted on everything that’s in there.

Samsung Unpacked, what are we waiting for?

In recent years, Samsung has chosen the month of August to present the company with its new generations of foldable smartphones, and this year will be no exception, as confirmed by the same promotional image of the event and the numerous leaks that have recently hit the Internet. years, weeks. It’s worth remembering Samsung monopolizes the majority of foldable sales (above 70%) and does not want to lose its privileged position. At least until Apple decides to launch its foldable iPhone…

Foldable devices will be the big star of Samsung Unpacked, but we are not forgetting other segments, such as smart watches, headphones or even laptops. Although this will be a strictly hardware event, we may also see a hint of the next version of the user interface that Samsung offers on Android. We find out what to expect.

Galaxy ZFold4

It is undoubtedly the most advanced folding mobile series on the market. The new version is not expected to have any significant changes in the external design, but it has improved on very important parts of the folding device, such as a redesign of the hinge, which will make the screen bend much less noticeable.

Everything indicates that Samsung will keep the size of its two screens, 7.6 and 6.2 inches, but change the aspect ratio, the outer one from 24.5:9 to 23:9 and the inner one, which would go from 11.2:10 to 12 :10. . It is not known if the terminal will have a hole in the chassis to accommodate the S-Pen stylus like the Note series.

As for the internal hardware, it will be upgraded with Qualcomm’s most advanced mobile chipset, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen1. It will have 12GB of RAM and Samsung is expected to introduce new storage chips to hit the Tbyte mark in mobile phones for the first time.

The selfie camera is one of the weakest parts of the current version, so improvements are expected. The new Fold will be distributed in several colors, some new as a beige version with a hinge and gold edges. It is expected to release the Android 12L foldable version with the manufacturer’s One UI layer. It is not known whether Samsung will lower the price limit, very highbut in accordance with the best options for depositing money.

Galaxy ZFlip4

The second of the new foldables that Samsung will introduce also leads its category. Quite different from the Fold (but for many users the same or more attractive), from what we’ve seen in a few leaks it won’t change its clam design and the improvement will come from a thinner curtain with a narrower gap when folded.

The internal hardware will be updated with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus SoC and will offer configurations with 8 and 12 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of storage capacity.

As for screens, that’s to be expected the outer increases in size, while the internal is left at 7 inches, which offers the current multi-touch flexible OLED. From the renders seen so far, the terminal will be launched in four colors (graphite, rose gold, purple and blue) and with the corresponding Android 12L software update with One UI layer. The price range is also unknown.

Galaxy Watch 5

Beyond mobile phones, Samsung is embroiled in another big battle to catch up with sales of the Apple Watch smartwatch, which dominates the segment. Your recent partnership with Google when using the Wear OS operating system it’s a good starting point and the new model will advance this scenario.

Always according to previous leaks, Samsung will launch its watch three versions with “Pro” as the highest variant and a 45mm stainless steel dial. To emphasize the absence of a rotating bezel, which makes this series popular when looking for something simpler, but maintaining a balance of design with elegant and sporty lines.

All versions will have a few physical buttons to the right of the screens, which will include some digital features and functions such as LTE connectivity, GPS or water resistance up to 5 ATM. There will be Wi-Fi only versions for those who don’t need a cellular connection.

The next news will be increasing battery size, up to 573 mAh in the top variant. The screen size of its AMOLED panel (about 1.3 inches) and its SoC, which will be Exynos from Samsung itself, are unknown. Of course, there will be features related to health and physical activity, with sensors for measuring blood sugar, heart rate, electrocardiogram, blood oxygen SpO2 and VO2 Max.

With the latest version of Wear OS tweaked with Samsung’s interface and apps, we expect prices to range from $250 to $350. Maximum competition for Apple Watch.

Multiple hardware and one 5.0 user interface

In addition to the three main releases, it would not be surprising if Samsung also introduced its new versions samsung buds wireless headphoneswhich supports noise cancellation technology and increases the size of the battery both in the headphones themselves and in the case of their storage and recharging.

We also leave room for (less likely) announcements some news in the PC section. Samsung doesn’t have many PC series, but what it does have is quality, and last year it increased sales by 63% with the standard Galaxy Book.

We’ll keep some software for the end. Last weekend, Samsung opened a beta program for a new version of its user interface OneUI 5.0. It’s only available for the Galaxy S22 series and in three global regions, but it’s important because it’s based on Android 13 and has some big improvements of its own. It will be the operating system that the new foldable devices will be updated to and will be installed by default in the new versions of 2023, premiering in the Galaxy S23.

Summer Samsung Unpacked 2022 will take place next Wednesday, August 10th at 15:00 in Spain. Here we will offer you everything that is presented.
