Last few days, China returned to “zero” in the fight against COVID-19. With the number of notifications approaching more than 20,000 cases in the past few days, and a record since the start of the pandemic, the country has locked its population into a new lockdown that has engulfed major financial centers. The measure prompted “bizarre” recordings to appear online with drones ordering the populace to stay at home and even robotic dogs announcing the progress of the disease, in the best style of a “machine apocalypse”.
On the Chinese social network Weibo, users have reported the presence of drones near their homes, repeating, “Please observe the Covid restrictions. Control your desire for freedom. Don’t open the windows and don’t sing.” The moment was reposted on Twitter.
In 2020, as the pandemic took its first steps, singing on balconies was a common prisoner practice to pass the time and cheer up during a difficult time for everyone. Several videos of “choirs” in residential areas in Italy went viral at the time.
Restrictions go beyond
And the “technological limitations” do not end there. Also in Shanghai, a robot dog was seen on the streets of the city, informing residents about the onset of Covid-19 in China and the introduction of a new self-isolation regime.
Many countries have already eased health restrictions and classified the disease as an endemic disease that strikes certain places with a higher incidence or during seasonal times – the same case of many already known cases, such as chickenpox, dengue fever and the flu itself. However, China has adopted a “Covid-zero” policy in which normal life returns with no or very few active cases.
Continuation after commercial
Along with this, the country fears a new variant of the virus emanating from Omicron discovered in Suzhou, also responsible for the return of restrictive measures.
In Brazil, the use of a mask is no longer mandatory in all states and the Federal District, but the country still does not officially consider Covid-19 an endemic disease.
