It is often said with enough common sense that the most reasonable is generally true keep little ones at a reasonable distance from computers, tablets, smartphones, etc.. The most recent example of this can be found in Read Along, a service created by Google some time ago, but until now only available through an Android app. And that’s good news for parents Google has created a web interface for Read Alongso now the service is accessible through a web browser, it’s completely free, and the only requirement to use it is to have a Google account.

If you don’t know it, read on is a service designed to assist in the process of learning to read. For this purpose, Google created a selection of stories (the preferred type of reading for many children). These stories are arranged according to difficulty levels, so the little one can start with the easiest ones and progress to the higher level ones depending on their development.

Read Along, once a story is selected, displays its text and it captures and analyzes the reading the child is doing via a microphone, to see if you are pronouncing all the words correctly. If an error is detected, it shows the word and asks the child to read it again until they get it right, at which point they can continue the story. To help with this, the Read Along narrator reads these words before asking the children to do so.

Read together suggests ten minutes of daily reading and in addition to positively reinforcing the child’s progress during it, it has a reward system that is reflected in the prices, which has proven quite effective in these cases.

It is even more interesting to know that regardless of the language of the interface Reading Between can be configured to learn to read (or improve reading) in one or two languages. In principle, we always find English, but we can add one more of the others available, including Spanish (Latin, yes). I tried Read Among for a few minutes and besides realizing that my English vocabulary isn’t as rusty as I thought, I have found this to be an extremely useful tool.which can be a powerful and fun reinforcement for learning to read, and therefore a huge success on the part of Google, which shows that it has taken great care in developing this service to support parents in the training process of the little ones
