A new privacy protection feature has been added to the beta version of the messenger. It complements the chat mode with disappearing messages – now images from such chats will not automatically create their copies on the device.
A screenshot demonstrating the work of the future innovation was published by the WABetaInfo portal. According to the source, when you turn on the self-destruct mode of messages, the messenger displays a warning on the device screen about the lack of automatic saving of pictures in the gallery. Thus, after clearing the chat after a specified time, there will be no copies of images from confidential correspondence on the device.
In the current versions of WhatsApp for iOS and Android, users can still manually save individual images to the local gallery even with the automatic deletion of messages enabled. Whether this will change with the update of the messenger is still unknown.
Insiders also report testing new image editing tools in the latest beta for the iOS platform. We are talking about two additional types of virtual pencils and the ability to blur selected areas of the picture before sending it to the chat. The date of the appearance of these innovations in the stable version of WhatsApp is still unknown.
