The launch of the Starlink Group 4-26 mission this Tuesday (9) will be a historic achievement for SpaceX. This is because it will be labeled as satellite 3000 launched to add to the long-range broadband service.

According to the mission schedule, the Falcon 9 rocket will consist of 53 Starlink spacecraft. The takeoff will be broadcast live on SpaceX YouTube starting at 18:45 (Brazil time). The launch will only take place at 7:57 pm from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

However, anyone who wants to follow the Falcon 9 launch needs to be aware of the weather. That’s because the SpaceX website has shown that there is about a 70% chance that the weather will be favorable for a launch. So, if it doesn’t, a new attempt will be made this Wednesday (10), at 19:36.

Once liftoff is complete, the rocket’s first stage will return to Earth about nine minutes after launch. He will make a small vertical on a ferry located in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Florida. Meanwhile, the other stage will move to low Earth orbit, where satellites will be launched.

Missions this year

During this year, SpaceX has completed 20 Starlink missions. So, if everything goes according to plan, this Tuesday will be the 21st. In addition, they also completed 34 orbital flights. In sum, they exceeded what SpaceX predicted this year when they set a goal of 52 launches during this year.

Tuesday’s mission could also be another successful number for the company. This is because if the first stage successfully lands, it will be the 61st successive landing of the reusable engine. This is one point that SpaceX is paying attention to, which already has two of them with 13 launches.

In total, they already have 2957 satellites in space. So the 53 spacecraft scheduled to launch into Earth orbit on Tuesday would bring that number up to 3,010. SpaceX currently has permission to launch 12,000 satellites but has already made a request to launch another 30,000.
