With a large user base over the past two years, Google Meetings has been and remains one of the most popular video platforms for work meetings and classes during the pandemic. And yesterday (7) Google announced some improvements for Meet users.
A new feature will allow you to quickly select certain parts of a document
One of the new features is a notification when you are the only one present in a meeting. So, now when you are the only person in the meeting for five minutes, Google will send you a request to leave this room or not. This way, if you don’t respond after two minutes, the platform will automatically remove you from the meeting.
As in the image below, a message will appear: “Are you still here? You’ve been waiting too long. Do you want to keep waiting?”
According to Google’s blog post, the reason for implementing this feature is to prevent “accidental sharing of audio or video if you forget to leave a meeting.”
The company claims the new option is now available for Google Meet on desktops and iOS devices. The new feature is coming soon to Android and will be available to all Google Workspace customers, as well as legacy G Suite Basic and Business customers, and users with personal Google accounts.
In addition, Google has announced another host control consolidation tool for meeting hosts and co-hosts to make it easier for them to manage their meetings. Thus, users can access multiple options right from the first page without having to open multiple paths to find the main features.
Google states that this update to Google Meet is available to all users only for the program on the computer. It is worth noting that this feature will also appear this month and will be provided to users gradually.
