developer Lunarixus began to develop this solution when they realized that 6.1″ Samsung OLED display cheap model has a similarity with the model pixel 6 6.4 inches with higher refresh rate.
Although both displays are not identical, the modder managed to increase the refresh rate of the display. pixel 6a through debug mode and OEM unlock. Thanks to this, he was able to unlock the bootloader and manually update to the beta version. Android 13 with some checks disabled and with an option called Smooth Display unlocked, the increase of which made it possible increase screen refresh rate to 90Hz.

O edge notes that its senior editor, Sean Hollisterand some other input device owners from Google tested this modification and confirmed that it works. But the portal points out that it was not clear if this modification is something supported by the display or some sort of overclocking done by the modder.

Now the modder claimed that tworking on a custom ROM for Pixel 6a, making this new feature easier to activate and more stable for the general public. The portal said it contacted Google and Samsung Display to find out why they don’t have a 90Hz mode for the smartphone, but both companies haven’t responded.
