Heat wave in China leads to power rationing and could affect iPad production

Due to the worst heat wave in China in 60 years, production iPad may be affected.

It’s pill damage from Apple due to the closure of factories and a reduction in the production of lithium and other metals, thanks to the rationing of industrial electricity consumption caused by abnormal heat in the country.

According to ReutersThe rationing is taking place in Sichuan province, where industrial consumers in about 19 of the province’s 21 cities were forced to suspend production from August 15 to 20 in order not to affect supplies to households in the region.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo wrote in his profile on twitter that this temporary power outage in Sichuan could affect iPad production at assembly plants in Chengdu (Foxconn) and Chongqing (Compal).

He adds that the impact should be limited if the blackout ends on August 20, and that flexible production scheduling by automakers should also help mitigate the impact of power outages. But it also added that “if similar incidents repeat in the coming months, this could affect the supply of new Apple products during the peak season.”

According to Rystad Energy’s Susan Zou, an analyst who spoke with Reuters, lithium prices could rise and that could affect the supply chain as “the high temperature in Sichuan will not drop significantly next week.”

Rumor has it that Apple is preparing news about the iPad for the October event. 9to5Mac has reported that a new 10th generation iPad model may be coming, as well as two new versions of the iPad Pro. In this regard, we still have expectations from the company, which has already ordered about 90 million iPhone 14 units.

Apparently, Apple isn’t overly concerned about these weather hurdles.
