4 TERRIBLE SCENARIOS DESPITE COMPANIES FIGHT TO PROTECT THEIR DATA
Loss of data, the most valuable asset of companies of all sizes in all industries, can cause serious damage. It is necessary to look for different ways to protect this data and to evaluate possible scenarios, but according to the surveys, about 40 of the SMEs do not backup their data while 68 do not receive support from data recovery experts. Data Recovery Services General Manager Serap Günal draws attention to 4 different scenarios that can threaten the data of SMBs.
Company data is gold for employees and managers. Even the smallest data loss that can occur jeopardize business continuity, and data loss that can push them to the brink of bankruptcy can occur. So much so that, according to research by IDC, 40 of SMEs never back up their data. Therefore, the loss of data not taken by the untimely measures and professional data recovery processes continues to increase with every passing year. Serap Günal, General Manager of Data Recovery Services, states that especially small and medium-sized companies ignore some of the problems they often encounter, and evaluates 4 scenarios that cause data loss.
1. Don’t ignore human errors. One of the most common causes of data loss in SMBs is loss caused by human error. Anyone, whether they know how to use a computer or not, can accidentally and unknowingly delete an important file. Devices can be spilled or otherwise physically damaged, software can be corrupted or even accidental hard drive formatting can occur. Therefore, it is very important to have maximum attention without ignoring this risk.
2. Beware of malicious cyber attacks. You may have taken security measures against software attacks. But remember that cyber attackers are improving themselves and their tools every day to get at your data and harm you. Attackers can steal, delete or sell your data. Therefore, you should be concerned about virus or malware protection.
3. You cannot predict when a flood or fire will hit you. Natural disasters can happen to all of us at any time. Just as an unknown epidemic has taken the world by storm for two years, it suddenly happens and there is no way to control it. You should take the necessary precautions by evaluating the possibility that everything will be damaged in seconds, and in a possible case, your first task should be to leave your damaged devices to a specialist.
4. Stay away from damaged hard drives. However long the life of hard drives, they will eventually become unusable. Noticing unusual temperatures, sudden freezing, and meaningless noises on your computer due to wear and tear over time is actually a warning to you about your hard drive. Such situations often lead to data loss. Therefore, do not forget to maintain your computer and to replace the hard disk regularly.
