Sony is preparing a PlayStation PC launcher

A few days ago we told you that Sony might start requiring the use of a PSN account in order to play PC adaptations of PlayStation exclusives, and today we came across a very interesting piece of information that reinforce that idea. A number of references have been found in the files for Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered for PC that make the Japanese company’s plans for the platform very clear, and there’s no doubt that Sony is going big.

The information is verified, that is, it is completely true and there is no error or interpretation that could lead to errors. Links found in Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered files PlayStation PC launcher. In addition, several references to “PSNAccountLinked” and “PSNLinkingEntitlements” were also found.

Today there are many launchers on PC and this forces users to have them installed to run various games. For example, if we wanted to play The Division 2, we would have to have the Ubisoft launcher, and to play Mirror’s Edge Catalyst, it is necessary to have the EA Origin launcher. We also don’t get rid of the Rockstar launcher if we want to play Red Dead Redemption 2.

Thankfully, Bethesda’s launcher died and that gave us some relief. Having so many launchers is a problem for what it means in terms of resources and is that they use up space and also force us to maintain different accounts with different passwords. Personally, I’d prefer to have everything unified around a single launcher, and I imagine many of you will think the same, but it’s clear that’s not the case.

It’s unclear how Sony might implement this PlayStation PC launcher, but I think it most likely will. in a similar way to Rockstar. What I mean by this is that the Japanese company will continue to distribute its games on Steam and Good Old Games, and we can buy and download them through these digital distribution platforms, but it will be necessary for us to have the PlayStation PC launcher installed when they launch. and that we have a PSN account.

There is also the possibility that Sony finally, it gives the option to link accounts to simplify the process. That would make our lives a little easier, no doubt about it. We’ll be keeping an eye on the Japanese company’s next moves, but the truth is that right now things are looking very bright.
