The management of the American company American Airlines has officially announced that it has ordered the Boom Supersonic company for twenty supersonic aircraft, optionally giving the opportunity to order forty more of the same aircraft in the near future. It is worth noting that the American Airlines air transport operator is the second largest airline in the world betting on high-speed passenger transport. Unfortunately, the amount of the deal was not disclosed, but there is information that the first batch of twenty planes has not been refunded – the agreement between the companies can change only if safety tests are not passed.

The reality is that for Boom Supersonic aircraft to be approved for passenger cargo transportation, they must first pass multiple test flights and fully meet all industry standards for operation, performance and safety in the United States. Accordingly, if the latest Boom Supersonic development passes the required technical tests, the first supersonic aircraft will be launched in 2025. After that, in 2026, they will be sent to the first test flights, where researchers and technical experts will have to evaluate many factors of the operation of such a vehicle.

And if all goes as planned, the first passenger flights with supersonic aircraft will begin in 2029. Of course, the probability of changing planes many times on the way to the set goal is very high, but in aviation and with ordinary planes nothing happens quickly, so nothing surprising. But if Boom Supersonic manages to do what American Airlines paid for in advance, the world of air travel will change forever. In this case A flight that currently takes seven hours from New York to London will only take three and a half hours. Also, the flight from Sydney to Los Angeles, which currently takes fifteen hours, will take only seven hours.

However, there is also bad news – this type of advanced technology entails significant costs that airlines will pass on to customers. As a result, although the airlines themselves have not yet specified any prices, tickets for new planes may cost $ 5,000 – it is too early to talk about this.
