This is already known That’s how often NVIDIA introduces improvements to GeForce NOW, its cloud gaming subscription service, with which you can enjoy your games on a high-performance platform with different levels of access regardless of the device you use for it. It can be a computer that does not meet the minimum requirements, a smartphone or a smartTV, all you need is a high-speed Internet connection.
As you may already know, GeForce NOW will link to your accounts at major online gaming stores (Steam, Epic Games, GOG, etc.) and allows you to play games you already have that are on the list of compatible titles. This list has already exceeded 1300 titles and new titles are added every Thursday, GFN Thursday. In total, this month of August will see the addition of 38 new games, from major triple-A releases to indie titles that managed to capture the public’s attention. Six added this week, we’ll show you them later.
But this week, in addition to new games, also NVIDIA improved maximum quality in which GeForce NOW RTX 3080 tier subscribers will be able to play directly from the Google Chrome web browser, with new highs of up to 1440p and 120 frames per second. Let’s remind you that a few months ago 120 fps also came to Android and that users of Windows and macOS clients saw a very important quality jump in May, by increasing the maximum resolution to 4K.
Let’s remember that GeForce NOW offers three account types: Free, Priority, and RTX 3080. The first, although the most limited, allows you to use the service simply by registering as a user without having to pay. Of course, it doesn’t offer all the graphics options of its superiors, it limits the duration of each game session to two hours, and you may have to wait a few minutes before you can start playing. However, this is an excellent option for establishing contact with the service, which will allow you to verify its operation first-hand.
Next up are the priority accounts, which allow you to squeeze a lot more graphics options into your games. At this GeForce NOW level you can already use ray tracing, DLSS and more. With a priority account, the start of game sessions is instant and the maximum duration of each game session can be extended up to six hours. And when a session ends, you can immediately start another one.
We finally meet the top of the range offering, the GeForce NOW RTX 3080, a service we’ve already tested at MuyComputer, and which, once up and running, is as impressive as its name suggests. This is the modality of the service that now allows you to play in 1440p resolution at 120 frames per second directly from the browser.
