As reported by Ukrinform, this was reported by The Wall Street Journal.
Recently, the company’s managing director, Evan Spiegel, told employees that the company’s decision to halt further development of this project is part of a broader shift in priorities to direct the company’s resources.
Pixy is a small drone that takes off and lands in the user’s hand. It was only introduced at the end of April with a starting price of $230.
During the drone’s presentation, Spiegel said the company plans to sell them in limited quantities. According to a person familiar with the matter, Snap will continue to sell Pixy’s existing products.
He said the company has been hit particularly hard by disruptions in the digital advertising market in recent months, posting its lowest quarterly sales growth ever in July. In connection with these results, Snap’s shares fell almost 40%.
The company is also trying to deal with the effects of Apple’s changes to its privacy policy that hurt Snap’s advertising business.
As Ukrinform reports, the American company Amazon has announced that it plans to start delivering ordered packages with drones soon.
