Applications for the IT Generation sweatshirt project started about two weeks ago on August 8th. During this period, more than 100,000 applications were received from Ukrainians who wanted to receive free education in the field of informatics.
Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov talked about this in an interview with Ukrinform.
“The program, which will soon start training Ukrainians, is now participating in 22 schools. A total of 117 applications were received from educational institutions that were recruited in July. This is a very good result that inspired me to focus more on this project. As of today, schools are about 100,000 for a new profession. “I can say that there is great excitement and demand in this direction,” he said.
According to the Minister, the average training period is about 2-6 months. Basically, these are online courses created according to the principles and practices of modern educational technology. Students will be able to watch the “live” broadcast or recording of the lesson at their convenience; There will be curators who will communicate with the participants and assign assignments.
He stated that face-to-face training is also possible. For example, schools will be able to bring students together and hold a hands-on session to consolidate the knowledge gained. But much of the theory will of course go online, with an emphasis on curation.
“I believe that the project should work on a simple basis. We plan to train 1000 Ukrainians first and then 2,000 Ukrainians. From now on, we will do everything we can to train 5-10 thousand people at the same time. Finally, we plan to include all schools that provide IT education in Ukraine in the project. .
Ukraine needs such programs – they promote the development of IT, because in projects built on technologies, the added value is much greater and the future depends on it. Our economy must transform itself into “product” IT production. And for this, it is necessary to do everything possible to improve IT education,” Fedorov added.
As previously reported, the Ministry of Statistics, together with its partners, announced the start of the IT Production project, where Ukrainians can get a profession in IT for free. Citizens of Ukraine between the ages of 21 and 60 who do not have formal education and do not have qualifications and experience in IT can participate in it.
